Azerbaijan has increased activity on its side of the line of contact in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, and the international border with Armenia.
Over the last days there were reports of military manoeuvres using live ammunition in the Nakhchevan region. Aircraft and helicopters of the Azerbaijani Air Force also carried out combat training flights over the frontline, the Azerbaijani media reported.
The Air Force exercises included simulation of attacks against surface-based air-defence systems and other targets in conditions close to the fighting, and use of radio electronic obstacles, as well as interaction with ground forces.
Armenia has downplayed the situation saying that the number of violations of the cease fire over the last days was low. The Minister of Defence of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, told reporters on Thursday, the Armenian forces have the situation "under control".
Both sides in the conflict conduct military manoeuvres close to the line of contact between them on a regular basis. In some situations these have led to serious incidents.
