The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliev, on Wednesday met with the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Philippe Lefort in Brussels. According to the Azerbaijani government at the meeting, "the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and the European Union." No further information was available from either side.

Later in the morning the Azerbaijani leader visited NATO Headquarters where he participated in a meeting of the NATO-Azerbaijan Council, met with the Secretary General of NATO Anders-Fogh Rasmunsen and addressed a press conference.
