A total of 25 political parties in Georgia have submitted registration for the parliamentary elections taking place later this year, the Central Election Commission of Georgia revealed in a statement on Monday.
The parties to have registered include Democratic Movement - United Georgia,the Georgian Labour Party, the Communist Party of Georgia, the Socialist Party and the European Democrats.
The ruling Georgian Dream party, as well as the United National Movement, Democratic Georgia party, Republican Party, Free Democrats, and State for the People, a new party led by Paata Burchuladze, have not yet submitted applications for registration.
The Georgian government on Monday supported the presidential decree setting 8 October as the date for the elections. The prime minister of Georgia is expecte to counter-sign a decree on June 8.
