Saudi King Salman ibn Abdul Aziz was on hand at Riyadh airport to welcome the Azerbaijani President at the start of his official visit to the Kingdom to which both sides seem to be attaching great importance.
In separate but very similar statements, the Foreign Ministries of the two countries hailed the agreement as a step towards regional peace and stability.
In a statement the sides said "Today, we have taken a decisive step: we have reached solutions on key parameters of a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action".
Infrastructure projects have given the three countries a common agenda and made them joint stakeholders in the region's future security and stability.
Whilst these elections are not recognised by the international community the authorities of the self-declared Republic are taking their preparation seriously.
