News.az: OSCE MG co-chairs again stress inadmissibility of status quo

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov held a meeting with the OSCE MG co-chairs in Paris on 2 March.

The meeting was attended by Jan Kelly, Jacques Faure, Igor Popov, as well as special envoy of the OSCE chairman Andrzej Kasprzyk, 1news.az reports.

During the meeting the sides noted concern about the situation around the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The co-chairs again stressed inadmissibility of preservation of the status quo in the region.

Elmar Mammadyarov stressed the need for the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the Azerbaijani lands, which will create conditions for a breakthrough in the peace process and peace in the region, and also noted that the Armenian destructive position hampers the conflict settlement.

The sides stressed the need for search of ways to settle the conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin  remains focused on the "near abroad". Tomorrow and on Monday (21-22 December) Putin will attend a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and an informal meeting of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg. The Kremlin press service reported that during the EAEU meeting, the leaders plan to discuss current issues related to the EAEU's activities, outline guidelines for further deepening integration processes and developing the Union's single market, and approve a number of significant documents and decisions. Furthermore, at Vladimir Putin's initiative, the traditional informal meeting of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States will take place in St. Petersburg on December 22. The Russian President will also hold bilateral discussions with the leaders of a number of countries.
