Former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili, who in 2013 took Ukrainian citizenship and became Governor of the Odessa Region of Ukraine, has left his governorship, accusing President Petro Poroshenko of "not only handing over the region to corrupt officials, but also to the enemies of Ukraine".
"In this situation, I decided to resign and start a new stage of struggle", - Saakashvili said.
"Let them not hope and do not expect to get rid of me. I am a fighter and will fight for as long as necessary", he added.
"The struggle continues", - Saakashvili said.
A statement in this sense was also posted on his facebook page.
