Putin bestows "Order of Friendship" on Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian

Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian with Russia' s "Order of Friendship".

The "Order of Friendship" is bestowed on Russian citizens, as well as foreign nationals for special merits in strengthening peace, friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding between nations. 

In the citation published on the official site of the Russian Federation it was stated that the award was made to Edward Nalbandian "For his great contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation with the Russian Federation".

Nalbandian has been Armenian Foreign Minister since 2008, for practical the whole time that Serzh Sargsyan has been President of Armenia. There have recently been speculation in the Armenian media that Nalbandian may soon relinquish his post as Foreign Minister.
