The situation in the Armenian capital, Yerevan is reported tense as police and demonstrators clashed outside the main government building, where the newly appointed prime minister Serzh Sargsyan was due to chair his first cabinet meeting.
The semi official Armenpress news agency said that demonstrators attempted to surround and block the facility and obstruct staff from entering. Police officers were trying to open the area which resulted in several protesters getting detained, it added.
