Lithuania's Rapid Reaction Force on alert

Lithuania's Ministry of Defence says its own Rapid Reaction Force has been put on alert following the announcement of partial mobilisation in neighbouring Russia on Wednesday (21 September).

The Ministry points out that the mobilisation is also taking place near the border with Lithuania. "We cannot just stand by", the ministry writes on Twitter.

The reaction force has been put on standby to "prevent any possible provocation from Russia".
