A curfew regime will come into effect in Georgia as from today as the government extends the quarantine rule across the whole country.
"A nationwide quarantine will be declared under the state of emergency and citizens will be banned from moving throughout the country from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am. It means that we are declaring a curfew," the prime minister Giorgi Gakharia said at the briefing on Monday, adding that the curfew would take effect from 9.00 pm on Tuesday, March 31.
Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are monitoring the implementation of the state of emergency measures across the country round the clock, the Interior Ministry said. According to the Ministry, due to high epidemiological risk, checkpoints have been set up at the entrances to Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Zugdidi, Poti and Gori.
"Officers of the relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Defense Forces, are controlling the movement of persons across the administrative boundaries of the said cities and the fulfillment of tightened state of emergency measures through the checkpoints. Thermo-screening of citizens is also carried out on site."
