Expert: Armenia has the potential to strengthen economic ties with BRICS

Economist Anna Pakhlyan argues that Armenia could reach important agreements with Iran, India and China on infrastructure development at the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia on 22-24 October. Armenia, a non-BRICS member and first-time participant in the BRICS summit, has strong economic ties with most of the BRICS members and is willing to develop economic relations with others.

Pakhlyan argues that "reaching agreements with Iran, India and China on issues of road infrastructure development" will further enhance cooperation. Although Armenia has increased trade relations with Russia, the UAE, China, Iran and India, imports and exports with other BRICS countries such as Ethiopia and South Africa remain low.
