Azerbaijan conducts large scale military exercises

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence has announced that it conducting large scale military exercises.

According to military sources the exercises involve 23,000 personnel, 120 tanks and armored vehicles, 180 artillery and rockets of various calibers, rocket systems and mortars, 30 combat aircraft for various purposes as well as new types of reconnaisaance vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles will take part.

The exercises are due to last until 24 June.

Earlier, a spokesperson for the Armenian defence Ministry said that Azerbaijan had not informed Armenia of the exercise as it was obliged to do under the provisions of the OSCE Vienna document, and was therefore in violation of internatiuonal agreements to which it was a signatory.
