Putin and Erdogan hold Kremlin talks

Russian president Vladimir Putin received Turkish president Recip Tayip Erdogan at the Kremlin on Wednesday (23 January) for talks which centred primarily on economic co-operation and Syria.

Welcoming the Turkish leader, president Putin said that trade between the two countries was booming, and hailed the fact that six million Russian tourists visited Turkey in 2018. The Russian president also said that large projects between the two countries were being implemented according to plan.

On his part, president Erdogan referred to security co-operation between the two countries: "Our solidarity undoubtedly makes a significant contribution to the security of the region", the Turkish president said.
