Armenian police have arrested Nikol Pashinyan, the main opposition leader in Armenia who has for the last ten days been leading street protests calling for the resignation of prime minister Serzh Sargsyan.
Police moved in to arrest Pashinyan shortly after talks between him and prime minister Sargsyan collapsed within minutes of starting with Sargsyan walking out of the meeting accusing Pashinyan of trying to blackmail the government.
In the operation to arrest Pashinyan the police used stun grenades. At least two other members of parliament from the oppostion Yelk Bloc, as well many others have also been taken into custody.
