Georgian and Azerbaijani leaders meet in Davos

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met in on Friday in Davos, on the margins of the World Economic Forum being held in the Swiss resort.

The website of the Azerbaijani President said that the two sides "expressed satisfaction with the successful development of the bilateral ties in various areas, including political, economic and energy ones. The importance of global energy projects implemented by the two countries was emphasized".

The same source said that "sides noted that there were good opportunities for expanding Azerbaijani-Georgian economic cooperation, and discussed the bilateral ties and other matters of mutual interest".

The announcement, reported by international agencies, comes as many countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, France and Canada, said they would recognise a Palestinian state in September. “This reality finally buries the idea of a Palestinian state, because there is nothing to recognise and no one to recognise,” said Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich during a ceremony on Thursday.
