The Washington Post reported on Thursday (26 March) that the Pentagon is considering redirecting military aid originally intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, citing three people familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the weapons under review include air defence interceptor missiles procured through a NATO initiative launched last year, under which partner countries purchase US-made arms for Kyiv.
Admiral Brad Cooper, head of US Central Command, said on Wednesday (25 March) that US forces had struck more than 10,000 targets inside Iran and were working to limit Tehran’s ability to project power beyond its borders.
A Pentagon spokesperson told the newspaper that the Department of Defense would “ensure that US forces and those of our allies and partners have what they need to fight and win.”
The Pentagon, the US State Department, and NATO did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters.
