Hostile rhetoric, lack of trust and sufficient contacts between the conflicting societies of Armenia and Azerbaijan impede progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
This was stated on Thursday by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort, involved in the region since last September.
"The European Union does not consider the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict frozen. Only its solution is frozen," said Lefort, speaking at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.
According to the diplomat, the EU is committed to achieve a peaceful and stable region.
"EU considers unacceptable the extension of the status quo and the resumption of hostilities, it would lead to the collapse of the entire region," he said.
