Conflict claims another life.

Armenian sources report that an Armenian soldier, Karen Paruyr Hovhannesyan, was killed on Wednesday, 12 August around midday by a sniper bullet in the Karabakh conflict zone. He was the latest casualty in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan which continues to claim a weekly toll of victims despite the official cease-fire in place.

Both sides continue to report incidents in various locations on the line of contact in the Nagornoi-Karabaklh conflict zone and on the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the last hours.

He has sparked a fresh row with Denmark after appointing a special envoy to Greenland.   In response to a question from the BBC about the new role of Jeff Landry, the Republican governor of Louisiana, Trump said the US needed Greenland for "national protection" and that "we have to have it". Trump specifically mentioned Chinese and Russian ships as potential threats in the nearby seas. Greenland, home to about 57,000 people, has had extensive self-government since 1979, though defence and foreign policy remain in Danish hands.
