Happy Europe Day

Europeans celebrate 9 May as Europe Day. 9 May  is also celebrated in the countries of the former Soviet Union as Victory Day to mark the end of World War II and the victory over fascism and nazism.

An Englishman, Daniel Edmonds, wrote this morning on the facebook page of the European Parliament:

"Europe is a great achievement, bringing states together who have spent countless years fighting wars with each other since the time of Charlemagne if not before! I would much rather call myself European than British, the EU may have economic problems but the world has had worse, and the senseless moaning isn't helping anyone."

The Editorial team of commonspace.eu wishes Happy Europe Day to all Europeans and Happy Victory Day, particularly to veterans who fought against fascism and nazism.
