Despite the calls made by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and other international organisations Azerbaijani and Armenian forces continue to violate the ceasefire regime. The parties are increasingly using heavy weapons.
According to our sources in Azerbaijan, Armenian armed units have violated the ceasefire regime a total of 86 times throughout the day in various directions along the contact line, using 60mm- and 82mm-caliber mortar launchers and large-caliber machine guns.
Azerbaijani positions in Kemerli village of Gazakh were fired on from Armenian outposts in Dovekh village of Armenia's Noyemberyan district, and positions in the unnamed uplands of Gedebey took fire from the enemy's outposts in the nameless highlands of Krasnoselsk district, the Defense Ministry's press service told APA.
Armenian news agency reported that they [i.e. Azerbaijan] fired with both large-caliber rifle weaponry and (...) mine throwers. Overall, the number of ceasefire violations exceeds 160.
These violations occur at a time when the international community is trying to restart peace talks to resolve the conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh.
