Azerbaijan buries with military honours soldier killed by sniper fire.

Azerbaijan has buried with full military honours a conscipt soldier who was killed on the line of contact near the village of Chayli in Terter region. The 18-year-old soldier Sarkhan Gasimov Vagif, was from Aghstafa region, The Azerbaijani side said that he was killed by Armenian sniper fire early on Friday. There was no comment on the incident from the Armenian side but the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry continued to report Armenian cease fire violations over the weekend.

According to new procedures that have been introduced by the recently appointed new Defence Minister of Azerbaijan Zakir Hasanov, the dead soldier was given a funeral with military honours. He was also awarded post humously a medal for distinguished service.

This is the latest fatality on the line of contact separating Armenian and Azerbaijani forces. Last week the Armenian side reported that one of its soldiers was killed by Azerbaijani snipers.
