Landmine Free South Caucasus

In the Tavush District, 14,170 residents live in 9 villages close to a mine infected area. In Paravakar village, a concert was held for young people, and gifts were presented to families affected by demining incidents

A short video of the mime performance is being distributed as part of the campaign "Landmine Free South caucasus taking place region wide from 4-10 April.

UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres said ""On this International Day for Mine Awareness, let us reaffirm our commitment to eradicating the horrendous damage caused by landmines and assisting those who have been harmed by their use."

From 4-10 April, a regional campaign, coinciding with international mine-awareness day, will highlight the heavy human and economic cost of landmines in the South Caucasus, and the need for concerted efforts to eliminate the scourge of all unexploded ordinance from the region

The soldier was named as Ruslan Manukyan. He was 20 years old.
