US appoints new co-Chair of OSCE Minsk Group on Karabakh

Andrew Schofer will be the new United States co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk process on Karabakh as from next week.

The announcement was made by the current acting US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Process, Ambassador Richard Hoagland, when speaking at a meeting at the Washington Press Club on Wednesday (23 August), the Voice of America reported.

"The current US administration has no new approach to this issue. American approaches in this issue are unchangeable regardless of who is co-Chair", the Voice of America quoted Hoagland as telling his audience. The new US Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, is a highly experienced American diplomat who has recently served as Charge D'Affaires of the United States Mission to International Organizations, Hoagland said.

During the meeting Ambassador Hoagland also articulated the main points that are being discussed as the basis for settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on the Madrid principles.
