The 55th Munich Security Conference will open this evening in the Bavarian capital, Munich, and over the weekend participants are expected to discuss current gloabl security concerns and hot spots. The situation in Ukraine and Venezuela are expected to receive particular attention.
This year's event is expected to attract an unprecented number of world leaders, including 35 heads of states and governments, about 50 foreign ministers and 30 defence ministers.
This year's conference will be officially opened by German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen and the UK Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson.
