The EU-Georgia Association Council – a formal mechanism established as part of Georgia's Association Agreement with the European Union – will be held in Brussels on Tuesday (16 March). It comes amid an ongoing political crisis in Georgia between government and opposition parties, and attempts by the EU to mediate a solution.
Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili arrived in Brussels on Monday and had two meetings with the president of the European Council, Charles Michel. Irakli Garibashvili will lead the Georgian side in the Association Council meeting. High Representative Josep Borrell will lead the EU side.
