Putin to make keynote speech in Crimea.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to make a keynote speech later today during a visit to the region of Crimea, which was occupied and anneed by Russia earlier this year. Putin will meet with members of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house in the Crimean resort city of Yalta on Thursday to deliver a big speech ahead of a new political season in Russia and forthcoming regional elections due on September 14, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"An open conversation will be held with lawmakers on key issues of the country's life," the Kremlin press service said. "Special attention will be focused on practical party work in the present-day competitive environment."
Taking part in the meeting with the president will be Prime Minister and chairman of Russia's ruling United Russia party Dmitry Medvedev, State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin and a number of federal ministers.

Later on Thursday, the Russian president will meet with men of culture to discuss issues of Crimea's integration into Russia's cultural space. "The agenda is rich and includes various formats," Peskov said.

Ukraine and its allies push for 30-day ceasefire

Ukraine and its allies are ready for a “full, unconditional ceasefire” with Russia for at least 30 days starting on Monday, Ukrainian FM Andrii Sybiha said on Saturday.  His remarks came as the leaders of four major European countries visited Kyiv, amid a push for Moscow to agree to a truce and launch peace talks on ending the nearly three-year war. They followed what Sybiha said was a “constructive” phone call between them, U.S. President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
