Drones attacked a vessel carrying aid to Gaza while it was in international waters off Malta on Friday, the group organizing the shipment said. A fire broke out but was brought under control, according to authorities. A nearby tugboat responded to a distress call from the Conscience, which was carrying 12 crew members and four civilians, Malta’s government said, adding that those aboard refused to leave their ship. The group was safe and no injuries were reported, it said.

The Qatari foreign minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, visited the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to chair the 155th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers. At the sidelines of the session, Al Thani met with the Egyptian foreign minister, Sameh Shoukry. The two countries signed a reconciliation agreement in January ending the rift.

US Envoy tours Gulf region in a bid to end Yemen's war

The US Special Envoy to Yemen, Timothy A. Lenderking, is scheduled to begin an extended tour of the Gulf region in a diplomatic effort to bring an end to Yemen's six year conflict. The visit by Lenderking comes as Houthi forces reach closer to the city of Marib where forces loyal to Yemen's recognised government are trying to defend the last northern governorate in their hands.
