By progressing on the path to becoming a truly European country Georgia is challenging Russia's narrative, and this may result in the Russian people questioning their own governance model, argues George Mchedlishvili in this op-ed.

In a message, Georgian president Giorgi Margvelashvili said "a day will come when we will build a strong, developed, democratic and peaceful state together with Abkhazians and Ossetians".

The visit came despite Georgian protestations. The international community recognises Abkhazia as part of Georgia.
