The discussions between Georgia, Russia and other parties in the aftermath of the 2008 Georgia-Russia War resumed in Geneva this week where the 52nd round of the Geneva International Discussions were held. The talks were mediated by the three co-chairs of the process representing the EU, the OSCE and the UN.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia said that Eritrea will withdraw its troops out of Ethiopia's northern Tigray region. Both countries have been under immense international pressure to end the conflict which has caused vast atrocities and a wave of migration. 

Saudi air defense crews also intercepted eight mined drones launched by the rebel Houthi movement from Yemen.

President Kais Saied said he is willing to oversee a national dialogue, with an active youth participation, to address a wide range of economic and political issues.  The initiative for the dialogue was brought forward by the influential Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT). It has also been something that has been discussed and advocated by activists and civil society members.

Russia and China were high on the agenda as the most senior EU and US diplomats reviewed global challenges and moved to reset the transatlantic relationship.

The eastern-based government of Libya officially recognised the new Government of National Unity (GNU). A delegation of the GNU, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Al-Gatrani, arrived in Benghazi, and received the office location from the now-former eastern government. The handover processes will occur on Wednesday and Thursday. 

"Russia’s aggressive actions constitute a threat to Euro-Atlantic security". This was stated unambiguously in a statement issued by NATO Foreign Ministers at the end of their meeting in Brussels on 23-24 March.

Gazprom intends to build an LNG plant with an annual capacity of 1.5 mln tonnes near the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok, and another facility on the Black Sea coast, which will have a production capacity ranging between 500,000 and 1.5 mln tonnes. Eastern Siberia and the Russian Far East are top priority regions for Gazprom in the long term.
