The Vice-Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, and chairperson of the parliamentary Committee on human rights, Bahar Muradova met with the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Michael Georg Link.
Muradova said that Azerbaijan that has passed a significant path in the period of its independence takes into account the challenges of the time, and the country's leadership stands ready to carry out the most serious reforms, a spokesperson for the Azerbaijan the parliament told APA on Wednesday.
Michael Jorg Link welcomed the restoration of Azerbaijan's statehood. The Director of ODIHR said that Azerbaijan is of great importance as a country connecting Europe and the East.
According to him, inter-religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence of people of different faiths, good attitude towards the Jews in Azerbaijan can be an example for many countries.
"Anti-Semitism in other countries inhabited by Jews is steadily growing, resulting in complicated life for Jews," said the ODIHR director. "I've recently attended the event on inter-religious dialogue in Baku. I also visited the village of Mountain Jews in Azerbaijan's Guba district and was impressed by the conditions created for them."
