The 20-year work on the legal status of the Caspian Sea has been finalised, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, told a press conference in Moscow at the end of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the five Caspian littoral states. The five Caspian littoral states are Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan
Russia's top diplomat said that the Convention and ancilary documents were now being finalised at an expert level.
"We positively assess today's meeting. We have finalized the 20-year work on the Caspian Sea's legal status. The text of the Convention will be presented to the heads of states of the Caspian states for approval," added the Russian foreign minister.
