The European Union urged an end to the war and famine in Yemen, stressing its commitment to help Yemenis build peace.
In a tweet on Thursday (17 September), Josep Borrell, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, shared a joint communique on the political progress in Yemen.The Foreign Ministers of Germany, Kuwait, Sweden, and the United Kingdom co-hosted a meeting on Thursday 17 September 2020, in connection with the 75th United Nations General Assembly, with Ministers and representatives of the United States, China, France, Russia, and the High Representative of the European Union, to discuss the urgent need for political progress in Yemen.

For the sixth year in a row, Yemen is witnessing a war between the pro-government forces, backed by Saudi Arabia, and the "Houthi" militants, accused of receiving Iranian support, and controlling provinces, including Sanaa, since September 2014.
