Azerbaijani President visits the front line at the start of large scale military exercises

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday (12 November) visited military units on the line of contact near the Fizuli area in the Karabakh conflict zone. President Aliev, wearing military fatigues, inspected command and control capabilities of the Azerbaijani army, and observed Armenian positions on the front line. The President also met with military personnel serving on the front line. Aliev later presented gifts to soldiers who had distingushed themselves in their line of duty and visited settlements in the area.

Aliev's visit to the front line coincided with the start of large scale militart exercises by the Azerbaijani armed forces. Earlier it was reported that 60,000 officers and men, more than 50 aircraft and helicopters, more than 150 tanks and armored combat vehicles, as well as up to 700 rocket systems and artillery pieces will participate in the exercises.
