Turkish Foreign Minister in Baku ahead of OSCE Ministerial Meeting

Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, paid a short visit to Baku on Friday (2 December) for discussions with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Elmar Mammadyarov. The main focus of the discussions were the Karabakh conflict and its resolution and other regional issues.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister said that Cavisoglu had briefed him about the extensive discussions he held recently with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov on Karabakh.

The Turkish and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers also discussed the upcoming meeting of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE member states, which will be held in Hamburg on 8 December. Prior to that cavisoglu will visit brussels where he is expected to have high level meetings with EU and NATO officials.

Key European leaders will join Ukrainian president Zelensky at talks with US president, Donald Trump, in Washington on Monday (18 August). Zelensky is currently in Brussels where he met with European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen. They include UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, French President Emmanuel Macron, Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Speaking to the press after her meeting with president Zelensky, Von der Leyen said she is glad to be accompanying Zelensky and other European leaders to Washington tomorrow.
