Russia supports the role of public diplomacy in the resolution of conflicts

The Russian Foreign Ministry has declared itself in favour of public diplomacy initiatives that support the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

The spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, answering a question about the recently established Baku platform of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan told journalists:

"We highly appreciate the role of public diplomacy in facilitating the resolution of conflicts. Its most important contribution is to instill within the societies of the sides in the conflict the inevitability of a peaceful solution based on mutually acceptable compromises. We believe that any initiative should be aimed at precisely that. We welcome community initiatives that have set themselves this very specific task".
