An Armenian soldier serving with the military formations of the self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was killed on Sunday (10 June) as a result of Azerbaijani fire, Armenian media sources reported on Monday. The incident happened at around 18.00 local time.
The soldier was named as Vahan Eloyan. He was 26 years old.
Nor further information is available and there has been no comment yet from the Azerbaijani side.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan raised the issue at a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CSTO member states that was held this morning in the capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty.
President Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia are both expected to be in Moscow this week where they will attend the opening of the world cup as guests of President Putin of Russia. Armenian sources say no meeting between the two leaders is planned as yet.
