Georgia and Armenia are pledging closer defence ties following a series of high-level meetings in Yerevan between the Georgian defence minister and Armenian politicians.
‘We have basically discussed a deepening of the cooperation and projects underway between Georgia and Armenia for already several years,” Tina Khidasheli said.
On Monday she met president Serzh Sargsyan, prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan and foreign minister Edward Nalbandian, as well as her counterpart Seryan Ohanyan. She is having further meetings today.
“Any kind of destabilization – be it in respect of Nagorno-Karabakh or something else, will be a problem for Georgia of the same scale as for those countries directly involved,” ehe said.
Officials from both countries signed a military cooperation plan for 2016, which outlines cooperation with respect to international missions, military education, training and strategic planning.
President Sargsyan underscored the importance of traditional Armenian-Georgian cooperation, and balanced stances in terms of maintaining regional stability and peace.
