"Armenian Akram, leave the country". Young people protested in front of the house of Azerbaijani writer Akram Aylisli.

Dozens of young people yesterday held a demonstration in front of the house of Azerbaijani writer Akram Aylisli. The protestors condemned the publication in a Russian journal "The friendship of nations" of Aylisli's novel "Rock Dream". They said that the novel offends Azerbaijani self esteem and serves as false propaganda for Armenians. The organisers of the protest was the Youth Public Union "Refugees and IDPs". Protetors held posters with slogans including "Armenian Akram leave the country" and "Why are you keen on Armenians."

In a statement the Youth Public Union Refugees and IDPs said

"We, evidences and victims of savageries committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis, estimate the acts of people's writer and intellectual Akram Aylisli as betrayal against the government and people of Azerbaijan and our martyrs' memory and regret his so-called novel".

Protesters burnt pictures of Aylisli and posters with the name of the novel.

Earlier APA News Agency had reported that members of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party and students participated in the protest. The police were at hand but did not interfere.
