Russian analyst:

I have repeatedly said that the Minsk Group is engaged in its own PR- campaign only. The resolution, specifically the start of the real resolution of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict is possible only after the U.S. finally sets the date of the military actions against Iran, which is not far off. Zakharov, Professor, Candidate of Science, History, Director of the Institute for Political and Social Studies of the Black Sea-Caspian region said in an interview with ArmInfo.

"The OSCE Minsk Group tries to show that it is not "asleep" and takes specific measures often "by- passing" the Russian representative. They have prepared something to be on the safe side or to favor their overseas patrons. Europe much speaks of Turkey's role in resolution of the Karabakh conflict. But it is not serious thinking that Turkey will make any real steps in order NKR gets the status of an independent sovereign state. Unfortunately, no one speaks on Iran's inclusion into the OSCE MG, while that country would render quite an effective assistance in the process," he said.

It is not a secret, Zakharov said, that the U.S. strives to oust Russia from the negotiation process. At present, the USA is taking a multi-step action to enforce that goal. The so-called reloading was
invested by the USA, to make Russian politicians and president "get on the hook" and behave differently in the negotiations with American politicians, first of all. And they did it, unfortunately. Second, they strive to oust Russia from everywhere possible.

"Although our analysts warned the authorities of all that, they did not listen to their alarms. The authorities have their analysts who prefer the desirable situation to the real one proceeding from the
principle of self- protection. In the meantime, Russia has many times yielded its positions over the last years and keeps on yielding one of its positions now. For instance, Russia's consent to monitoring of
cargoes on its borders with Abkhazia and South Ossetia was not just a mistake, but a failure in the country's foreign political course for some mythical membership of WTO, which will only affect our economy and producers," Zakharov said.

Borrell tells the European Parliament that the situation in Afghanistan was critical, but the EU will remain engaged

Borrell underlined that the European Union will make every effort to support the peace process and to remain a committed partner to the Afghan people. "Of course, we will have to take into account the evolving situation, but disengagement is not an option.  We are clear on that: there is no alternative to a negotiated political settlement, through inclusive peace talks.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder and honorary chairman of the Georgian Dream party, addressed a large crowd of supporters in Georgia's capital Tbilisi on Monday, 29 April as the standoff between Government and opposition continues. In a fiery speech, considered as the most radical of his political career, Ivanishvili lambasted the US and NATO, accusing them of seeing Georgia only as cannon fodder. He slammed the country's opposition and civil society and promised a heavy handed approach towards the opposition following next October elections. The mask that had hid the true Ivanishvili for the last twelve years finally fell. Ivanishvili accused NGOs of trying to organise a revolution and threatened all those who oppose him. He said "I know many of our supporters were dissatisfied that we did not punish the United National Movement enough. Even though many of their leaders spent time in prison and their leader [Saakashvili] is still in prison, it is true that we did not pass the UNM in a tribunal as such, did not condemn it as a treasonous, criminal entity that it is. Why did not we do it? Because we were under tremendous pressure. In fact, UNM was appointed the opposition [in 2012] just like they were appointed as government [in 2003] by the global party of war. The Georgian people should decide the country’s fate. After the [victory in] elections, we will issue a strict political and legal condemnation to the collective UNM [meaning NGOs and political opponents]; it will get the due punishment it deserves. They will pay for all the crimes against the Georgian people."
