Georgia's prime minister Mamuka Bakhtadze arrived in Yerevan on Monday, 10 September, on his first official visit to Armenia since taking office. Speaking at a press conference in Yerevan after the meeting with his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan, Bakhtadze said they discussed issues related to cooperation in the fields of transportation, energy, culture, tourism and humanitarian issues.
"After independence, our countries have established mutually beneficial cooperation. I believe that our relations will become more active in different fields. We understood during the discussions that we have untapped potential," Bakhtadze said.
The Georgian Prime Minister noted that soon the sitting of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission will take place which will be tasked to design a development plan for relations between the two countries in different fields.
Bakhtadze also stressed that Georgia welcomes the activation of Armenia-EU ties.
On his part prime minister Pashinyan said Armenia and Georgia plan to increase trade turnover volume to one billion USD Pashinyan, said that he and his Georgian counterpart had a very important discussion, and the parties set very ambitious goals."The relations between Armenia and Georgia are brilliant. The task is to bring the economic component in line with the level of political relations and relations between the two nations," Pashinyan said.
"We can state that with each visit the relations are rising to a new level," Pashinyan said, recalling that personal relations between cabinet members are no less important from the point of view of strengthening interstate relations.
