Nagorno-Karabakh ensures balance of geo-political interests in South Caucasus

It is not a secret that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the only one being settled equally - though formally - by Russia, the United States and France, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Vahram Atanesyan said in an interview to ArmInfo.

He said that being an independent military-political unit in the South Caucasus, Nagorno-Karabakh ensures the balance of geo-political interests in the region.

"The current status quo is the only effective mechanism keeping the world's force centers in mutual balance," Atanesyan said.

He believes that the further efforts of Nagorno-Karabakh in the region should be enhancing its economic and political self-sufficiency.

"This is the key priority for the local authorities, the whole Armenian nation and the forces interested in the continued security of the region," Atanesyan said.
