Kvirikashvili announces new Georgian government

Georgian Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili has announced the formation of a new Cabinet of Ministers following recent parliamentary elections.

Most Ministers have retained their posts, but there are changes in the economic team.Giorgi Gakharia has been nominated for the post of Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, while his predecessor, Dimitri Kumsishvili will take the post of Finance Minister; he will also retain the post of First Deputy Prime Minister

Kakha Kaladze will return to the Ministry of Energy and will also occupy the post of Deputy Prime Minister. The new Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia will be Zurab Alavidze.

Victor Dolidze will replace Davit Bakradze as State Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.

The Office of the State Minister for Diaspora Issues has been canceled and the issues relating to Georgians living abroad will be addressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Other Ministers who were re-appointed to their previous posts include Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, Health Minister Davit Sergeenko, Minister of IDPs and Refugees Sozar Subari, Education Minister Alexandre Jejeleva, Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili, Culture Minister Mikheil Giorgadze, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Tariel Khechikashvili, Defense Minister Levan Izoria, Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani, Interior Minister Giorgi Mghebrishvili, Minister of Corrections Kakha Kakhishvili, Minister of Environment Gigla Agulashvili, Minister of Civic Equality and Reconciliation Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

The new ministers will shortly be submitted for the approval of parliament.
