"The European Union considers both Armenia and Azerbaijan as victims of the Karabakh conflict" Philippe Lefort

The European Union Representative to the South Caucasus, Philippe Lefort, told journalists in Armenia that the European Union wants to assist the mediation efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group in the settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “The EU has mechanisms and experience on monitoring and support of peace processes and expresses wish to provide assistance to Armenia and Azerbaijan as we consider that both states are victims of the conflict”, he added.

The EU envoy was speaking in Yerevan after a meeting with the Armenian Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandian. In the Armenian capoital Lefort also met with Armenian President Serz Sargsyan.
