Since adoption of the decision on criminalizing of the Armenian genocide denial by the Senate of French National Assembly, undoubtedly the protectability level of Armenia like a country that suffered from genocide has grown, analyst, Ashot Manucharyan, told ArmInfo correspondent.
"It is no secret that today as well Armenia goes on suffering from the aggression of Turkey and its satellite Azerbaijan, which is expressed in the blockade of Armenia by them, in the aggressive statements of the leadership of Azerbaijan, which are encouraged by the Turkish influence. Just Ankara's influence at the decisions of Baku is one of the key motives of the decision of Paris, as such behaviour of these two countries directly threatens regional stability and the interests of the West", - Manucharyan said and added that such a situation is stemming from the interests of the Armenian people.
He said that drawing of the "Armenian map" in Turkish nationalistic circles against Armenia and its people is one of the negative consequences of the Senate's decision. He also added that the new law adopted in France will become an extra catalyzator, which encourages chauvinistic and anti-Armenian mood in the Turkish society.
On 23 January 2012 the French Senate passed an unprecedented bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial. The bill was passed by 107 votes "for" and 86 "for against". The bill authored by Valerie Boyer of the Union for Popular Movement (UMP) stipulates one year in prison and a fine in the amount of 45,000 Euros for anyone who denies the fact of the Armenian Genocide in the territory of France.
