Armenian MP:

In Kazan the Armenian, Azeri and Russian presidents will make a step forward in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, Armenian MP Gagik Melikyan said during a press-conference today.

At the same time, any step forward should be coordinated with the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities. "I think that Nagorno-Karabakh should be invited to the negotiating table and I expect developments that will be acceptable to the world community and the peoples of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh," Melikyan said.

He said that the statements made by Personal Representative of the OSCE CIO Andrzej Kasprzyk to Nowa Europa Wschodnia correspond to the positions of the Armenian party. "Azerbaijan will be forced to accept solutions acceptable in terms of the international law," Melikyan said noting that one should not expect quick resolution of the conflict. The key principles - nonuse of force, territorial integrity, self-determination right - are acceptable to the Armenian and the world community and Azerbaijan will have to also accept them and to recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Melikyan said that new war is unacceptable to the Amenian party. "If Azerbaijan starts a new war we will respond adequately. Azerbaijan knows this and will not start a war," the MP said.
