8 November: Russian President Dimitri Medvedev has started an official visit to Germany. He will later today join the leaders of several European countries at the launch of the Nord Stream Gas Pipeline which will transport Russian gas to European markets

Accompanying Medvedev on this visit to Germany are the chief of the Kremlin Administration staff, Sergei Prikhodko, Economic Development Minister Elvira Nabiullina, Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov, and the CEO of the natural gas giant Gazprom, Alexei Miller.
