29 October: At least one police officer has been killed in fighting in the Republic of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, in the North Caucasus. Gunmen opened fire when police stopped a car for inspection in the town of Uchkeken.(RIA Novosti)

At least two other policemen were injurered. The attack is linked to the Islamist insurgency in the North Caucasus.
