Умер президент Узбекистана Ислам Каримов

Президент Узбекистана Ислам Каримов умер после перенесенного инсульта в возрасте 78 лет, об этом агентству Reuters сообщили в пятницу дипломатические источники. Каримов не оставил после себя очевидного преемника.

Правительство Узбекистана не сразу подтвердило данные сообщения. Ранее в пятницу было сказано, что состояние Каримова, который находился в больнице с прошлой субботы, резко ухудшилось.

"Да, он умер", сообщил один из дипломатических источников, когда его спросили о состоянии Каримова.

Каримов правил Узбекистаном с 1989 года, сначала в качестве главы местной Коммунистической партии, а затем в качестве президента новой независимой республики с 1991 года.

Каримова критиковали за его авторитарный стиль руководства как со стороны Запада, так и со стороны правозащитных групп.

In this first phase, which lasted from September 2024 to April 2025, LINKS Europe conducted an assessment of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and mobilised the personnel necessary for delivering the project output. LINKS Europe Foundation is pleased to announce the names of the chairs/co-chairs of the five thematic groups within the initiative.
