Торговый оборот между ЕС и Ираном в первой половине 2016 составил €5.107 млрд.

Торговый оборот между ЕС и Ираном возрос до €5.107 млрд. в первом полугодии 2016, на 43% в годовом исчислении, согласно последним данным, опубликованным статистической службе Европейского союза Евростат, которые приводит издание "Tehran Times". В первом полугодии 2015 года объём торгловли между Ираном и ЕС составил €3,563 млрд.

С января по июнь 2016 года, экспорт ЕС в Иран увеличился на 13% и достиг €3,565 млрд., по сравнению с €3,154 млрд. в первой половине 2015 года. Также отмечается резкий рост закупок сырой нефти из Ирана странами ЕС.

Политические и экономические отношения между Ираном и Европейским союзом значительно улучшились после успешного заключения сделки по ядерной программе между Ираном и крупными международными державами.

В середине апреля Иран и ЕС опубликовали совместное заявление в Тегеране, своего рода дорожную карту для сотрудничества. Заявление было подписано министром иностранных дел Ирана Мохаммадом Джавад Зарифом и главой внешней политики ЕС Федерикой Могерини, которая посещала Иран вместе с семью европейскими комиссарами.
