СПЕС Зальбер встретился с премьер-министром Грузии

Во вторник (14 февраля), Специальный представитель Европейского союза (СПЕС) по Южному Кавказу, посол Герберт Зальбер, провел встречу в Тбилиси с премьер-министром Грузии Георгием Квирикашвили.

Стороны обсудили текущую ситуацию на сепаратистских территориях в Абхазии и Южной Осетии.

Источники в Грузии сообщили, что премьер-министр Квирикашили выразил сожаление по поводу того, что, несмотря на миролюбивую политику и усилия по содействию примирению и укреплению доверия со стороны грузинского правительства, Россия усиливает изоляцию данных территорий и продолжает предпринимать шаги в направлении их аннексии.

Квирикашили считает, что такие действия со стороны России подрывают стабильность в регионе и ставят под угрозу международную систему основанную на демократических ценностях.

Стороны также подчеркнули важность Женевских международных переговоров в качестве первостепенного механизма для обсуждения проблемных вопросов и принятия соответствующих решений.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has appointed a team of legal experts to start working on a new constitution with critics saying it could allow him to remain in power beyond 2028, when his current term ends. Erdogan, who has led Türkiye as president since 2014 and was prime minister for more than a decade before that, has advocated for a new constitution arguing that the current one, which was drafted following a military coup in 1980, is outdated and retains elements of military influence even though it was amended several times.
